MP Dame Harriet Baldwin recently met with directors from Hillandale Caravan Parks, at the Holiday and Residential Park Association (HARPA) Conference in London, where she reaffirmed her support for local holiday parks and the vital role they play in the UK tourism economy.

During the meeting, Denis Lloyd Jones, Managing Director of Hillandale Caravan Parks, shared insight into the positive impact holiday parks have on families, local communities and domestic tourism. Discussions centred on the many benefits of holiday home ownership, the growing appeal of family holidays within the UK, and how holiday parks continue to offer accessible, high-quality leisure opportunities for people of all ages. The conversation also highlighted the wider contribution of holiday parks to local employment and the unnecessary pressures put on family owned holiday parks, following recent Government decisions.

Harriet Baldwin acknowledged the concerns raised, commenting:

“The Chancellor’s relentless tax raids are stifling business confidence and I have already heard that some holiday park owners are reassessing their plans to expand. It was a pleasure to meet with Denis and HARPA, and I will continue to call on the Government to reverse the damaging decisions that threaten these vital family businesses.”

Denis Lloyd Jones added:

"It was a pleasure to meet Dame Harriett after many years of communicating by email: Hillandale and HARPA, very much appreciate Dame Harriett's interest in our industry also for making the time and effort to visit us at our annual Trade Conference, plus to view the caravan on display in Westminster; the support of Dame Harriett of West Worcestershire and tourism is hugely appreciated."
