Morfa Bychan Holiday Park Accessibility Statement

The purpose of this Accessibility Statement is to give a helpful description of the topography and facilities at Morfa Bychan Holiday Park, bearing in mind people with varying abilities and/or disabilities.

The park is in a coastal location, with hills to the east and bounded on the west by a cliff, consequently much of the park is on varying inclines, with some areas of relatively level ground on the occupied regions of the park.  There are steps in various parts, particularly down to the beach, plus the inclines can be greater than 1:12 on some roads and pathways. Due to the natural landscape of the park, it is most suitable for ambulant users and those with suitable walking aids.  It is unlikely to suit people with user propelled wheelchairs.

General -The landscape of the Park varies from relatively flat areas to slopes. Car parking is permitted alongside, or close by, the majority of holiday homes, also to caravans for hire, touring and camping pitches, with additional car parking available by reception. There are one or more steps (an average of three treads) to access the owner/user holiday homes with many having decking to the side and front, depending on location, none are specifically set up for wheelchair access, however private owners can apply to install a ramp if they require. Dogs are allowed on the Park but should be kept on a short lead. There is access to the pebble beach via a long set of steps which have a hand rail, but this is unlikely to be suitable for someone with walking difficulties. There is no public bus service near to the Park.

Roads & Paths - Access around the Park is via tarmac roads which have a number of speed bumps, highlighted by yellow road marking paint; all roads are subject to a speed limit of 8 m.p.h.. Access paths from the roadways to the holiday homes vary according to location, so they may be via grass, intermittent concrete slabs or continuous concrete slab paths.

Telephone -There is not a public telephone on the Park. The Park Managers and staff live on the Park, they may be available to contact the emergency services should the need arise. Mobile phone reception varies around the Park according to the service provider.

WIFI - Internet generally is available throughout the Park, subject to user hardware and the vagaries of signal; service for holiday homes is via subscription through a third party provider; the basic service for hire caravans and touring & camping is included.

Amenities -There are no steps to the Park Reception and Shop. The games/social room has no steps at the entrance, but there is a internal single step to one small area inside. The children's play area is surrounded by rubber safety flooring. There is a central collection point for refuse, including recycling facilities.

Washrooms - There is a separate Gents wc cubicle designed for less ambulant users, it is not DOC M.  The ladies Washroom has a cubicle with a shower, wc and basin, suitable for access by the less ambulant.  Our washrooms are for use by our touring and camping customers. As touring caravans, motorhomes and campers all require a step (or normally multiple steps) for user entry, plus the interior of these accommodations are not designed to be able to accommodate wheelchair users (unless specifically built to order); furthermore, as tents are not generally able to be used by less ambulant, i.e. wheelchair users, then our washroom facilities follow the same pattern, that is suit our users. The Washrooms and laundry have ramped access.

Holiday Homes -We sell new and preowned holiday homes, the design of holiday homes varies enormously, they are rarely designed for specific disabilities. Most do have 75cm wide doorways, the hallways and spaces around the beds make wheelchair use very difficult, so it is likely that further adaptation will be necessary; however some manufacturers offer new holiday homes made specifically for wheelchair use. All holiday homes are connected to park mains electricity, LPG, water and drainage.

Holiday Homes for Hire - The accessibility for holiday homes for hire follow the general accessibility of the Park; there are surfaced pathways to each of the holiday homes for hire, which follow a curved upwards pathway/route, some are situated on pitches which may be inaccessible to less a ambulant use, however please enquire. The interior of the holiday homes and layout are similar to those that we offer for sale, so may not be suitable for customers with ambulant difficulties.

Touring -The touring field has some relatively flat areas with gentle slopes; there are a mixture of hardstanding and grass pitches, please specify your preference. There are electricity hook ups to many individual positions, with water supply available, also with chemical waste disposal being to the rear of the Washrooms.
